Need an original Enigma Machine?

One of my coworkers sent me this link earlier today. It is an auction of an original Enigma machine used during WWII to encrypt communications. I think of these as museum artifacts, not as items for ebay.

I spent a bit tonight and cleaned out the UX50 FAQ (the frequently asked questions for my PDA). Sometimes I�m amazed at what people will do if they have the ability. I�ve considered turning off all new submissions to the FAQ just to prevent people from abusing it. Some people think it is funny but I just think it is a pain in the ass when someone goes through and adds a bunch of questions/answers that are either worthless or irrelevant. Luckily a couple of them I�ve caught in the process recently. One of them was even originating from a law firm. I thought about emailing the administrator, and then realized that the likelihood of it being the administrator who was posting all the crap was pretty high so I just blackholed that site so they couldn�t access the web server anymore. That stopped the random postings for at least a little bit.

Other than that things have been going well. Been doing stuff with my little, which so far has been an extremely rewarding experience for me and I�m very happy to be involved with, hanging out with friends, Laurakins, working and playing a combination of Doom 3 and Dungeon Siege during special events and as time permits. I hiked flattop a couple times last weekend (once to about half-way and once all the way), saw Spiderman 2, which I really enjoyed, hung out, slept, and generally have been a working during the day and flopping during the night individual.

So now I bring you 10 tons of links� well, maybe not 10 tons.. maybe only 2 tons.

The Cin-O-Matic.

This site has a little chunk of Smart Projectors that can automatically cope with distances, color variations, etc. on the surface that they are being projected on. Pretty awesome stuff. The demo pictures are really impressive.

This collection of photos is pretty neat even if way over color-saturated. I thought about creating a series of pictures out of my own to parody these since they have such an interesting color profile.

If there ever was a PC for Laura this would be it. This is the most adorable case I�ve ever seen.

Darrin sent this to me. Down at the bottom of the page you can click on �Search Spy� and check out what other people are searching for. From my initial viewings it looked like porn and things of that nature were about one in eight searches.

This little car is awesome.. but not for $85,000.

Rick James died this last week. This wouldn�t be news worthy had Dave Chappelle not brought him to my recent memory through his TV show.

The Chappelle Show renews for another two seasons bitch! Woo Hoo! My favorite shows on TV consist of this one, Penn and Teller�s Bullshit! And Dead Like Me right now. The Rick James skit has become so popular (Dave Chappelle is probably sick of hearing it quoted) that it has it�s own entry in the urban dictionary.

Shrimp Shells Save Lives.

A Cool little House that floats in a river.

The X530 4.5Mp digital camera. Not really special by any standard measurement but it has a cool image sensor that is much closer to how real film works.

An automobile that can tell you how it feels (New York Times so you have to create a free account). These types of ideas are what people come up with when left alone with psychedelic drugs for to long.

The Nintendo DS (Dual Screen) has it�s design finalized.

This little caller ID fob over at Engadget is very cool whether or not it is really practical this day and time.

At first I thought this was some sort of scam but now I�m not so sure. The people at some of the web sites I visit have reported that this is actually real and people have started receiving their free Ipods so with that being the case you should sign up to if you have any real desire. Do note that they want you to take advantage of one of their vendors offers but a couple of them look pretty reasonable.

Redefining Values

Here are Alan�s values distilled for a new day.

-I am self-sufficient in all aspects of my life.
-I am honest in my dealings with all people including myself.
-I openly and freely assist others when needed.
-I do not accept responsibilities that I cannot follow through on.
-I do not procrastinate on issues that have time deadlines.
-I strive to stay healthy and keep an active lifestyle.
-I maintain a clean work and living space acceptable to others.
-I produce good quality work and attempt to stay in good standing with all people I interact with.
-I value my friends and family and am always appreciative of their presence and participation in my life.

With this values list would come a dreams and goals list. I haven�t flushed it out completely yet so I will save it for later. I would prefer to get my values list down to eight or less �core� values but that type of editing-room floor stuff will have to come later when I�m more awake and have the mental power to condense values without losing meaning :^).
